Responsible for managing Tachi-S Quality
Quality Control Section, Aichi Plant Joined the company in 2013 O.T (Chief)
I have been interested in automobiles since I was a student and had a dream to work in an automobile-related profession. I chose Tachi-S because car seats are important parts that come into contact with people, and I was attracted to the fact that it is an independent company that can be involved with a variety of car manufacturers. I have been with the company for 10 years and have always been in charge of quality control. In a nutshell, the job of quality control is to determine whether the finished product, according to the design specifications, functions as expected. Tachi-S provides high-quality seats for a wide range of vehicle models from many automakers, depending on the application. "Are the seats really comfortable and pleasant to sit in?" How about its convenience and safety performance? Our job is to provide seats that satisfy our customers.
Sometimes, unexpectedly, customers point out problems. What is difficult is that most of the comments are based on "feeling. Quality control is characterized by the fact that we often receive sensory feedback that can never be quantified, such as, "It is a little wrinkled," or "It feels a little hard to sit on. Each person has his or her own perception of "hardness," and how he or she perceives wrinkles differs from person to person. What is required of us, however, is to understand how the customer in front of us is feeling right now, just as it is. We then feed this back to the manufacturing site to create what the customer wants. For this reason, I value the ability to listen and communicate. We "listen" to our customers' opinions, digest them, and "communicate" them to the field. I really feel that this ability is important. The most rewarding moment in my work is when a customer says, "No problem at all! I would like to continue to broaden my horizons and become an expert in quality control.
Quality control work rarely involves dealing with sudden problems, and the section has members who work the night shift. I used to alternate between day and night shifts, but now I only work the day shift because of the birth of my child. The fact that I can adjust my work style relatively freely to suit my lifestyle also makes it easy to work.
On holidays, I play with my children at the park, go to the shopping mall. It may be an occupational hazard that every time I see an automobile on display at the shopping mall, my eyes always end up on the seats. However, I often get hints from other companies' seat and notice new issues, and I feel that it is important to accumulate daily studies.
The main reason I chose Tachi-S was that I wanted to make parts that people would see. There are many different companies in the automotive industry, and many people do not know where to focus their job search. In such cases, we recommend attending a joint information session and receiving explanations while viewing actual parts and actual products. If you conduct your job search while imagining as concretely as possible what kind of things you want to make, it will be easier to imagine the work you will do after joining a company, and your motivation for job hunting will be enhanced.
